From Awareness to Action: Alerting for Missing and Endangered Persons with Autism - Webinar #83027

Date(s):
December 3, 2026
Fee(s):
This registration has a fee.

Description:
When an autistic child or adult is reported missing, autism-informed alerting can support a faster and safer response and improve the likelihood of a safe recovery.

For this webinar, FEMA’s Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) will deliver actionable insights that strengthen your organization’s capability to effectively alert the public during high risk missing and endangered persons (MEP) events. This webinar will provide education and capacity building resources to Alerting Authorities and public safety officials on using IPAWS to send MEP alerts with autism-specific alerting considerations.

Attendees will learn to:
  • Apply an autism-informed approach to alerting when an individual with autism is reported missing.
  • Issue clear, safe, and timely alerts through IPAWS when every second counts.
  • Develop comprehensive autism-informed procedures for using the MEP event code.

Speaker: Manny Centeno, Director of FEMA’s Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS)
