As PSAPs seek to deploy NextGen 9-1-1 solutions, sending texts, photos and videos to 9-1-1 is no longer a
distant reality. A key to accelerating this realization is the commitment of the four major wireless carriers to make text-to-9-1-1 available by May 2014. Today, Verizon Wireless is already offering this lifesaving service in several areas, and the other three tier 1 carriers, along with many other smaller carriers, will be shortly.
With the imminent availability of text-to-9-1-1 in the U.S., the expectation that public safety agencies will be able to use the same technology that citizens use every day to communicate has never been higher. However, there is a lot of confusion with how it works, who is responsible and what is necessary to achieve a successful deployment of text-to-9-1-1 in the public safety environment.
During this webinar, we will address key questions including the operational impacts of integrating
text into a PSAP’s incident management workflow. Additionally, we will demonstrate how text can be configured to help you handle calls faster, allocate resources better and keep your community safer.

Snapp, Vice President and Senior Technical Officer, Intrado
John Snapp provides strategic direction and coordination of technical activities within the wireless group and between various departments within the company. He has been in the wireless industry since 1991 and has directed technical groups for various wireless carriers in both engineering and operational roles. Mr. Snapp was lead architect in several network nodes that allowed AT&T Wireless to seamlessly bridge the gap between TDMA and GSM. Also at AT&T Wireless, he led the initial wireless deployment of E9-1-1 Phase 1 as well as the design, development and deployment of E9-1-1 Phase 2. In addition, Mr. Snapp has served as Vice-Chair of TR-45.2 AHES, the standards body responsible for Wireless 9-1-1 Phase 2 standards development. Mr. Snapp was also the Chief Architect behind the Intrado text-to-9-1-1 initiative. |

Dan Sawicki has more than thirty years of telecommunications experience serving in various roles spanning strategy, product management, front end requirements definition/planning, advanced manufacturing and quality management.Mr. Sawicki began his career as an engineer focusing on advanced manufacturing solutions, and quality management initiatives for Motorola’s cellular handsets and infrastructure products.After transitioning from engineering, he has spent approximately twenty five years in a series of product management positions within Motorola’s Government Solutions business.These include roles focusing on digital two-way Land Mobile Radio, fixed and mobile data systems, broadband systems, and public safety applications. Currently, Dan leads Motorola’s 9-1-1 strategy and product management efforts for integrated multi-media command center solutions supporting NG9-1-1 functionality including Text-To-9-1-1. He led the program for Motorola’s PremierOne NG9-1-1 integrated call control solution that was formally announced at the NENA show in June 2013, and will be deployed in a New Orleans 911 customer field trial this fall.Mr. Sawicki also represents MSI on the Industry Council for Emergency Response Technologies (iCERT) Board of Directors.
