Active Assailant (Shooter) Incidents for Public Safety Communications E2V2
Active assailant incidents—an expanded term replacing active shooter to include firearms, knives, vehicles, and other weapons—are fast-moving, high-risk events that demand skilled, well-prepared telecommunicators. To ensure our new training course reflects real operational needs, we are forming a workgroup of experienced professionals to help shape its content.
The course will examine incident types, phases of an event, call-handling, dispatch communications, responder safety, managing calls from victims in harm’s way, and the telecommunicator’s post-incident role, including rescue support and stress recovery.
Your frontline insight is essential. If you have experience or interest in improving preparedness for active assailant events, we invite you to join this workgroup and help build a practical, impactful training resource.
